Frustration

I went to listen to a song I paid for a very long time ago. I always pay for music I like and listen to. But I’m not a fan of the little license file that has to be carried around with it. So today, I went to listen to that song, after rebuilding the computer in which the license files were located, it could now no longer locate them (that would be because I failed to remember to back them up). It told me so. It also told me I now cannot listen to a song I paid for. Any of the songs I paid for. That sucks. I understand the need for licenses, I do. But I also understand the need not to piss off your customer base by making them recall and tug around some little hidden file to accompany their music so they can listen to it on this, that, or the other device. Now it gets cumbersome, irritating.

I can understand why people want to steal it. I mean, when you bought a CD or a, gasp, record, it was easy to take it to your friend’s house and play it with them (just like ITA videos). Maybe they want to buy it too –their own friends even!

Some things just suck today.

  1. Answer to that : DRM free music. There’s also ways of removing the DRM from iTunes music, like burning it to CD.
